Now That's What I Call Leadership
AP headline: "Thompson gives no opinion on Schiavo". Thompson's excuse? It was sooo long ago:
Then again, everyone else in the GOP field is so vulnerable that such a bland candidate might have a chance. He might be so unoffensive that he ends up with the nomination. After all, no substantive record + no actual views on anything + no policy proposals = no major downsides. That might be good enough to win the GOP this time through.
"I can't pass judgment on it. I know that good people were doing what they thought was best," Thompson said. "That's going back in history. I don't remember the details of it."Despite the fact that Thompson is apparently an actual candidate now, I still get the feeling that he is remarkably unconcerned about, y'know, stuff. After all, he announced his candidacy on a late-night comedy show, has not issued any policy proposals, and is best known as a side character on a network drama despite several decades in public office. I'll need something more substantive before I begin to take him seriously. For now, I'm assuming that his presidential candidacy is a P.R. attempt to bolster his acting career, and not the other way 'round.
