Eric Alterman examines Marty Peretz's tenure at The New Republic from his perch at The American Prospect. It's possible that there is some jealousy involved -- TAP has seemingly always wanted to be TNR -- but it's hard to argue any of Alterman's key points: Peretz is an ideological idiot, and TNR has lost lots of its cachet under his leadership.
