Why Iraq Is Getting Worse

Unemployment is at 70%. Success, however you're measuring that, cannot be achieved in Iraq when the majority of the populace is out of work. If you improve the economic situation in country, come up with a viable revenue-sharing program for the oil industry which is acceptable to Sunni, Shi'ite, and Kurd politicians, improve the employment situation... then you'll start to see some sort of stability in the country. Then you'll see the security situation improve. Then you'll see the suicide-murders decrease. Then you'll see a viable government emerge.

But until the economic situation improves, until viable economic institutions are in place, no peace is achievable.
